Indy animal shelter out of space, needs community help
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Animal Care Services (IACS) has run out of space and cannot house more animals. IACS is now asking for residents to adopt or become short-term foster families.
Right now, IACS has 842 animals in their care, 430 of those are dogs. Since January 1, 689 new animals have come in, while only 224 animals have been adopted.
Adoptions are free until the end of January. The shelter just asks that you bring in an item from their donation list, here.
Adoptions include the spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchip and heartworm testing.

The shelter wants residents to withhold from surrendering pets to their local shelter. Instead, contact INDY CARES, a non-profit program run by IACS staff and volunteers.
