Inmate dies following attack inside Pendleton prison
PENDLETON, Ind. (WISH) — One man is dead as the result of an attack inside a Pendleton prison Wednesday morning.
Officials with the Pendleton Correctional Facility said the were investigating the origins of a loud noise when they observed Ezekiel Jones on his back with a wound to his neck.
Jones was transported to the hospital for emergency treatment where he later died.
Jones had been serving time for two counts of robbery and another count of murder out of Allen County. His projected release date was set for 2042, according to online records of the Indiana Department of Correction.
The facility’s warden released a statement:
The suspect in the attack and potential witnesses to the incident are being questioned by the facility’s Investigations and Intelligence staff along with investigators from the Indiana State Police. The facility has been placed on lockdown status with visitation suspended until further notice.
