$1 million gift for Evansville urban park renovations
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — The city of Evansville has received a $1 million grant from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation to renovate a downtown park.
Named CenterPoint Energy Square, the revitalized park will have room for a farmer’s market, outdoor dining and live music events. The park is located at the intersection of Fourth and Main Street
The City of Evansville Parks and Recreation Department says it will also have a large green space that will be turned into an ice-skating rink during the winter months.
“We’re grateful for the CenterPoint Energy Foundation’s investment in Downtown Evansville,” said Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. “This park will be a wonderful addition to our revitalization efforts and will complement the upcoming development around the block.”
The city says construction on the park will begin in 2022.
