Orthodontics component supplier looking to stay in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — An orthodontics components manufacturer is looking to expand in Johnson County. Our partners at the Daily Journal report Franklin-based G&H Orthodontics plans to set up shop in a shell building and create more than 116 jobs by 2025, pending approval of tax incentives from the city.

G&H and Westfield-based Patch Development are investing a total of nearly $5 million to customize and equip the shell building for the company’s purposes, according to the publication. 

The company is seeking nearly $600,000 in real and personal property tax abatements, as well as $100,000 in tax increment financing funds. G&H says approval of the incentive package would also help retain 134 jobs in Franklin.

“I think it is the right thing, We want to keep a company like this here. They are a class act and they have quality, high-paying jobs,” Mayor Steve Barnett told the Daily Journal. “Economic development is not always bringing new companies with new jobs. It is also about helping current companies with expansion and creation of new jobs.” 

The Franklin City Council and Franklin Redevelopment Commission will consider the tax abatements and TIF funds, respectively, at their upcoming meetings next week.
