Local heroes honored at annual luncheon

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Local heroes were honored for their service during a luncheon on Tuesday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

The 47th annual Fire, Police and Deputy Sheriff’s Community Recognition Luncheon is sponsored by nearly 40 businesses and groups, and recognizes the sacrifices made by first responders in Marion County.

“I think, at the end of the day, it shows the heart of a person who’s willing to render aid and assistance to those in need, and they do this without fail,” said Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Rick Hite.

The event was created by the Indianapolis Water Company in 1968. Citizens Energy Group said they are proud to continue the tradition as the events sponsor.
