1 dead after crash on I-74 in Shelby County
SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A person is dead after a car crash in Shelby County on Sunday.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to mile marker 120 on I-74 WB on reports of a crash.
Upon arrival, officers found four vehicles involved in the crash.
Initial investigation suggests that a semi tractor trailer driven by Larry Vincent, 59, of Fairfield, Ohio, struck a vehicle in slowed traffic. This caused a chain reaction, police say.
The first vehicle struck was a 2021 Hyundai driven by Allen Aubrey, 47, of Indianapolis. Aubrey was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Patrice Graham, 41, of Indianapolis, was taken to a local hospital.
The second vehicle hit, a 2021 Lexus, was driven by Hugh McCloskey, 52, of Cincinnati, Ohio. McCloskey was taken to a local hospital.
The final vehicle struck was a 2018 Chevy truck driven by Hugh Wickizer, 65, of Shelbyville. Wickizer was also taken to a local hospital.
The interstate was shut down for about four hours due to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
