Carmel church hosts prom for people with special needs

Prom for People with Special Needs in Carmel

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) — People with special needs were treated like royalty in Carmel on Friday night.

It was part of a special prom night event called Night to shine sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. Here in the Indianapolis area, two churches took part: Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood and Northview Church’s Carmel campus.

Guests in Carmel arrived to a red carpet welcome and were treated to dinner and a party. The night ended with each guest being crowned as king or queen of the prom. Organizers say they wanted guests to leave knowing they are seen, known and deeply loved.

Kimberly Tarlton, creative director at Northview Church, said, “We just invite them out for a free night where we get to celebrate them and just have a blast, just making it the best night of their lives.”

The Carmel location had 300 people attending and 600 volunteers to make sure it was a great night.
