Delphi murders: Family, friends ‘Light up the Night’ to honor Abby and Libby
DELPHI, Ind. (WISH) — Two years after the bodies of two young girls were found on a trail in Delphi, friends and family gathered to honor and celebrate their lives.
Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, were reported missing on Feb. 13, 2017, last seen on a trail in Delphi. The next day, their bodies were found.
Two years in, there has not been an arrest in the case, but investigators say they continue to get tips.
Thursday night, about a dozen people gathered outside the Carroll County Courthouse in Delphi to remember the girls. A friend of both families organized the event, called Light the Night.
“The glow sticks are something the girls just loved,” said Carrie Timmons, Libby’s mom, who traveled from Kentucky.
There were glow sticks, footballs that glowed and lanterns. The idea was to light up the sky, like Abby and Libby would light up rooms.
The community was invited to participate.
“Take a minute to remember,” said Timmons. “Just one minute is all it takes.”
As the temperatures dropped, more people showed up, taking an evening to remember the two best friends.
“They know we’re out here. We’re going to find [the person responsible],” said Timmons.
“We want justice. They deserve justice. The girls deserve justice.”
