Indy 500 winner Tony Kanaan, wife helping to raise money for Riley Hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan and his wife Lauren are helping lead a global movement, locally.

The two have teamed up with Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health for #GivingTuesdayNow, a special day of giving created in response to COVID-19.

Tony and Lauren Kanaan have a special connection to Riley, their son was a patient there.

The couple’s efforts on Tuesday are specifically aimed at raising money for the Riley Relief Fund.

The fund was created by the Riley Children’s Foundation to help make up for lost donations during this time.

The money raised provides emergency assistance for families of kids cared for at the hospital, many of whom are facing financial hardship. It also supports Riley programs and gives doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals flexibility as they respond to the ongoing crisis.

The first 10,009 donations made will be tripled thanks to gifts from two donors. The first donation came from PwC, a network of firms committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory and tax services.

The second comes from an ongoing match from Riley supporters Jim Morris and Fred Fehsenfeld.

You can donate through this link. Here you’ll also be able to access interactive social media interviews with a Riley Kid Correspondent and a few celebrities.
