Marion County reports 2 more inmates test positive for COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two more inmates at the CoreCivic/Marion County Jail 2 have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total of inmates who have tested positive for the virus to nine.

The jail is located in Indianapolis at 730 E Washington St.

According to a spokesperson for the Marion County jail, the inmates who have tested positive have been placed in quarantine. No inmates at the main jail have tested positive for the virus.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says it has implemented and increased safety measures throughout the jail facilities including:

  • Regular disinfection and sanitization of all Jail units.
  • Additional provisions of hygiene, sanitizing, and cleaning products available to inmates.
  • Ongoing education efforts for both inmates and staff members.
  • Both the Marion County Jail and Jail 2 are closed to ALL outside non-employee visitors.
  • Jail Division and CoreCivic employees are receiving a medical screening immediately prior to beginning their shift.
