Silver Alert canceled after missing Greenwood man found safe
UPDATE: A Silver Alert for Howard Hefley was canceled Sunday evening. Greenwood police say Hefley was being checked out by medics after he was found “alive and well within a short distance from his residence” and was lying in some underbrush.
GREENWOOD, Ind. (WISH) — A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing 88-year-old Greenwood man.
Howard (Doug) Hefley is 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds with white hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a Depends undergarment.
Greenwood police say Hefly is possibly suffering from a form of dementia and left his home on Christy Drive around 3:15 a.m. Sunday.
He is believed to be in extreme danger and may require medical assistance.
