Local schools get new work-based learning grants

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Eight winning Indiana high schools and business partnerships were announced by Gov. Pence in the second round of Innovative Career and Technical Training grants on Tuesday.

The grants are designed to target new work-based learning opportunities in advances robotics, agriculture and precision machining technologies at the regional level, with collaborations between local business and education partners.

The grants provide the opportunity for students to work and learn, as well as earning dual credits and industry certifications.

More than 150 Indiana employers have donated funds, purchased equipment and more.

A total of 79 applications were received for both grant cycles and 25 overall were selected for funding opportunities.

Programs receiving new funding include:

  • Pulaski County Community Foundation
  • Michigan City
  • Heartland Career Center
  • Noblesville High School
  • New Castle Community Schools
  • Vigo County School Corporation
  • Scott County School District
