Man charged in deadly southeast side stabbing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man has been formally charged in a stabbing on the city’s near southeast side.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, 65-year-old Candelario Vasquez has been charged for his involvement in the stabbing death of James Brown.

On Aug. 10, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of South State Avenue for a report of a vehicle that had struck a building.

After arriving on scene, officers discovered that Brown, the driver of the vehicle, had been stabbed. 

Brown was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The Marion County Prosecutors Office officially filed charges against Vasquez Tuesday morning.
