Man gets 50 years in National Guardsman’s death

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man found guilty in the shooting death of an Indiana National Guardsman was sentenced this week.

On Dec. 4, 2013, officials say 32-year-old Sergeant First Class James Vester drove to an apartment complex on the west side of Indianapolis to buy an iPad he saw listed on Craigslist. When he arrived, he was shot and killed.

Brothers Tryon and Tyshaune Kincade were later arrested and charged with murder in Vester’s death. Court documents show Tryon Kincade’s phone number matched the number Vester was texting before he was killed.

This week, a judge sentenced Tyshaune Kincade to 50 years in prison on a murder charge. Court records show another murder count and a robbery count filed in the case were dismissed. Kincade was given 515 days of jail credit.

A jury trial for Tryon Kincade is scheduled to begin June 8.
