Man shot during prayer vigil for teen killed remains in serious condition

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Detectives have identified the man who was shot Sunday night during a prayer vigil for a teen who was killed at the same gas station the night before.

The man shot was identified as 53-year-old Donald Baker of Indianapolis. Baker remains hospitalized and in serious condition.

Police were called to the Conoco gas station in the 4100 block of 16th Street around 9:20 p.m. Sunday, where they found Baker shot inside a vehicle. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

A 16-year-old boy was killed at the same location Saturday night.

Detectives believe Baker accidentally struck another vehicle of someone attending the praying vigil. Baker was confronted by a group, and it’s believed someone in the group fired shots at Baker.

Police have not released suspect information for either shooting.
