5 new flu deaths in Indiana this week brings seasonal total to 50
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Health officials say five new deaths related to the flu have been reported in Indiana this week, bringing the total number to 50 for the season.
Ten of those deaths happened in Marion County. The state’s activity is widespread and half of the deaths have been in people 65 years old and over, according to Indiana State Department of Health.
Indiana had recorded 23 flu deaths last season by Feb. 8, 2019. In the 2018-2019 season, Indiana flu deaths totaled 113, including 16 in Marion County, according to ISDH.
