Indiana says 11 dead from COVID-19 at Madison County nursing home

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — An outbreak of COVID-19 has struck an Indiana nursing home.

Indiana State Health Commissioner Dr. Kristina Box announced on Monday afternoon that 11 residents at Bethany Pointe in Madison County have died from the virus.

Box said three employees have been hospitalized as well. Two of those employees are “critically ill,” according to Box.

“Today, I have the unenviable task of informing you of a very serious outbreak of COVID-19 at one of our long-term care facilities,” Box said.

Box said asymptomatic residents are being transferred to another skilled nursing facility.

Madison County health officials said Monday morning that 30 new cases were reported in the county.

Monday morning’s update from ISDH listed 101 total cases of COVID-19 in Madison County.
