Mother arrested after helping escaped inmates

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — Investigators said the mother of an escaped inmate helped him and another man after they broke out of the Fayette County Jail.

60-year-old Paula Potters of Connersville was arrested and faces preliminary charges of maintaining a common nuisance and assisting a criminal, both level six felonies.

Chadwick Heath and Michael Roberts were caught on surveillance video escaping the Fayette County Jail on Friday night.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office said Potters confessed to assisting Roberts by providing the men with clothing and food when they came to her house after the escape.

Per Indiana law, Potters will not face an additional charge for assisting her son.

FSCO also said that Potters provided additional information about the whereabouts of the escapees.

Her other son, 37-year-old Joseph Heath, was also charged with maintaining a common nuisance.

Investigators said the maintaining a common nuisance charges stemmed from a review of phone calls made by investigators.

A $1,000 reward is available for info regarding each of the escapees. Tips can be made anonymously to FCSO at 765-825-1110 ext. 602, 765-825-2111 or by calling 911.
