Motorcycle crash in Lafayette leaves one man dead, injures child
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Lafayette man is dead and a child is injured after a motorcycle crash on State Road 25 Saturday morning.
According to 24-Hour News 8 sister station, WLFI, the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office said it happened just after 10 a.m. in the 9100 block of SR 25 North.
Deputies said 63-year-old Terry Meadows of Lafayette was driving a 2006 Honda Shadow motorcycle on SR 25 North with a 9-year-old female passenger, when he struck a dog. Both Meadows and the 9-year-old child were thrown from the motorcycle.
Meadows was airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he was pronounced dead. The passenger was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital where she was treated for her injuries and later released.
Deputies said the child was wearing a helmet, but Meadows was not.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Buck Creek Volunteer Fire Department and the Tippecanoe Emergency Ambulance Service assisted with the crash.
A Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction specialist also responded to the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
