Ohio man arrested in Shelby Co., charged with child molestation
SHELBY COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – An Ohio man was arrested for child molestation in Shelby County.
According to the Shelby County prosecutor’s office, 23-year-old Cory Alan Hockaday is in custody.
Hockaday then traveled by bus from Cincinnati to Indianapolis and then took a cab to Shelbyville on October 7.
Police responded to a call from the teen’s mother claiming that her daughter was missing. The mother said her daughter was supposed to go spend the night at a friend’s house after school. However, she said she received a call from school officials of a man named “Corey” claiming to be her brother attempting to pick her up her.
The prosecutor said Hockaday met the now 13-year-old girl at a middle school and the two proceeded to a nearby hotel where molested her.
After receiving information of their whereabouts, police discovered the two in a hotel room.
Authorities said Hockady and the female, who was 12-year-old at the time, initially met on-line last year. Police said Hockaday claimed to be 17 years old at the time.
Hockaday has been charged with level 1 child molestation, a level on felony. If convicted, Hockaday faces up to 40 years in prison.
