Plainfield man charged with murder in road rage shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A Plainfield man faces a murder charge after police say he shot a man Saturday night in a road rage incident.
Dustin Passarelli, 33, called 911 around 8:04 p.m. Saturday about a person shot at the Lakeside Crossing at Eagle Creek apartment complex, near West 38th Street and Interstate 465, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived, they found a man who had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene, IMPD said. Passarelli stayed at the scene, and detectives determined he was the shooter. Police on Sunday announced his arrest and the murder charge against him.
Police confirmed Sunday that they shooting had stemmed from a road rage incident on nearby I-465. Neither the victim nor the suspect lived at the apartments where the shooting happened; the victim had been going there to meet friends.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office has identified the shooting victim as 32-year-old Mustafa Ayoubi.
Detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have seen the road rage incident, around 7:30 p.m. Saturday on southbound I-465 north of the 38th Street exit.
