Police: 2 men dead, 1 woman in hospital after shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two men have died, and one woman believed to be pregnant is in the hospital after a shooting on the near southeast side.
Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 1800 block of Cottage Avenue around 4:44 p.m. Sunday on a report of a disturbance.
When they arrived they found the three shooting victims. 21-year-old Eric Hoffman was pronounced dead on scene, while 32-year-old William Koenig III later died at the hospital.
The third victim, a woman, was in surgery Sunday night for her injures.
Officials later confirmed that the shooting occurred over a dog.
Police at the scene told 24-Hour News 8 that two people of interest are being questioned in connection with the shooting. At this point it is still unclear what role they played.
“It is just ridiculous, not necessary. I’ll just say a prayer. It just makes you want to cry because there is not only a woman, but there’s an unborn child that doesn’t even have a chance maybe,” said Barbara Arteaga, an Indianapolis resident whose father lives in the area.
A spokesperson for IMPD said they believe this is an isolated incident and that the shooter and victims knew each other.
