Police: Man arrested for kidnapping woman, holding her head under water

FOUNTAIN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The Indiana State Police at the Lafayette Post arrested a man for kidnapping and domestic battery.

Officers from the Fountain County Sheriff’s Department were sent to the 4700 block of South Silver Island Road near Kingman on September 17 around 2 p.m. to speak with the victim who reported the kidnapping and battery compliant.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who said Cody Demotte, 24 of Kingman, had taken her unwillingly and physically hit her in the upper body and attempted to hold her head under water earlier that morning.

Demotte was arrested with charges of kidnapping, criminal confinement and domestic battery.

He was transported to the Fountain County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said there is a possibility of further charges pending.
