Police: Woman stabbed boyfriend, drove off recklessly & crashed into tree
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Crawfordsville woman is in police custody after stabbing her boyfriend, then fleeing the scene – only to crash her car with two children inside into a tree.
Crawfordsville police said it happened just before 1:30 p.m. at a home in the 1900 block of Delaware Street. Police said 23-year-old Morgan Ritter and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Mason Lockard, were arguing when Ritter stabbed her boyfriend in the upper back with a small kitchen knife.
After the stabbing, witnesses said they saw Ritter place the couple’s two children in the car and drive off recklessly. Ritter lost control of the vehicle and crashed her car into a nearby tree.
A 3-year-old child in the car was treated for minor cuts and scrapes. A second child, 2 years old, was not injured.
Lockard refused treatment for his stab wounds, and Ritter was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Crawfordsville Police Department said Ritter has been released from the hospital and they are currently interviewing her. Police said after questioning, she will be arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
Ritter is being preliminarily charged with battery with a deadly weapon, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and neglect of a dependent.
