Snow removal companies busy after Saturday storm
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Crews with the Indiana Department of Transportation and the Indianapolis Department of Public Works were hard at work this weekend treating roads.
But some snow removal companies say they have been waiting for the snowfall.
Daniel Barry with Circle City Snow and Ice Management said the independent snow removal company has been called to more than 300 properties to remove snow and haul it away.
Barry said 10-15 trucks will continue to work into Monday, plowing side streets and business parking lots.
Barry said while the company does offer other services, snow removal is their big moneymaker.
He said crews were more than ready to get to work.
“This has been a slow winter off to a slow start. This storm dumped about 7.2 inches. It’s kept us busy for about 24 hours straight. Our salt truck has been going. We’ve been hauling snow off properties, so staying quite busy. This storm I think is going to be a good kickoff to our winter season. It sounds like it’s going to get cold and plenty of snow opportunities coming up,” said Barry.
Barry says with possible snow in the forecast, his team is already preparing for next weekend, gassing up trucks and making sure they have enough salt in stock.
Even though most of the snow is off the roads, DPW plans to have crews out again overnight ahead of the morning commute.
