Spirit Airlines to begin flying out of Indy airport

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There will soon be another option for travelers flying out of the Indianapolis International Airport.

The Indianapolis International Airport announced that Spirit Airlines will launch three nonstop flights out of the airport in 2019.

Beginning on March 14, 2019, travelers will be able to take Spirit Airlines nonstop from Indianapolis to Orlando, Las Vegas and on May 2, nonstop to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Following the announcement, Indianapolis Airport Authority Executive Director Marion Rodriguez issued the following statement:

“Spirit Airlines chose Indy because of its economic growth and opportunity — and its ability to improve access to customers. That’s a credit to both the city and the state, and the public value the Indy airport delivers in attracting airlines to Central Indiana. Coming out of the gate with not one, but three nonstop routes, and the fact it can connect to more than 70 cities, Spirit Airlines is making its confidence in Indianapolis emphatically known. I commend Spirit’s commitment to customer service — such as leading on-time performance, self-serve convenience technologies, and a young aircraft fleet — as it all aligns firmly to IAA’s commitment to creating an excellent customer experience.”
