Teen trips, eye punctured by javelin during track meet
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A 17-year-old boy was taken by Life Flight to an Oregon hospital Friday after tripping and falling on a javelin.
Officials with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue say people at the scene were able to remove the javelin from the victim’s eye and stabilize him before paramedics arrived.
The injury happened just before 1:30 at Jesuit High School, although the athlete involved is not a Jesuit student. Erica Tuenge with the school says the student was competing in a USATF event.
