Three killed in 30+ vehicle pileup on interstate in Michigan
FOWLERVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) – Three people were killed when up to 40 vehicles crashed on I-96 east of Lansing, reports NBC-affiliate WDIV-TV.
The multiple-vehicle wreck happened in the westbound lanes near Fowlerville, about 30 miles east of Lansing, around 9:45 a.m. Thursday.
Multiple injuries have also been reported and people were trapped in their vehicles.
The crash forced the highway to close in both directions between M-52 and Fowlerville Road.
Michigan State Police are blaming slippery conditions for the massive crash.
