Tri-West teacher faces theft, drug charges

LIZTON, Ind. (WISH) – A teacher of Tri-West High School has resigned pending a police investigation accusing him of possession of a controlled substance and theft.

Jeremy Small, a science teacher for Tri-West High School, is charged with possession of a controlled substance, theft and criminal mischief damage, according to court documents.

Richard King Superintendent for North West Hendricks School Corporation told 24-Hour News 8 that Small resigned from his position Friday. The board will vote to accept his resignation at Wednesday evening’s regular board meeting.

“We were disappointed and shocked by Jeremy’s actions involving the theft at our schools,” said King.

Small has been on paid administrative leave since Jan. 5 while an investigation was completed by the school. Police were then consulted.

“Jeremy was a well-respected and well-liked teacher,” said King.

A pre trial was scheduled for March following Small’s first court hearing. Small was out on bail.
