Tundra settling into new home at Detroit Zoo

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Zoo is providing updates as Tundra settles into her new home at the Detroit Zoo.

The Zoo posted on Facebook Wednesday morning. The post included a video and said that the zoo deeply misses Tundra.

The Zoo closed its polar bear exhibit on June 22. It opened in 1988 and was in need of updates, which meant their 29-year-old Tundra had to relocate.

Tundra arrived at the Zoo in 1988.

The Zoo’s veterinary staff said they carefully reviewed all of the options and agreed the Detroit Zoo was the perfect facility for Tundra’s needs as a senior bear. They said the Detroit Zoo offers large spaces and pools with easy slopes for Tundra to enter and exit.
