Woman, suspect struggle over gun during robbery on east side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — An Indianapolis woman said her whole life flashed before her eyes when she was robbed at gunpoint by two people on the city’s east side.
She said she was sitting in her car talking on the phone when someone approached the driver side window.
It happened outside of a home on Chris Drive early Monday morning.
The 28-year-old victim said she couldn’t help but to think about her kids the entire time and how she didn’t want them to find her dead the next morning.
“I was crying all night you know shaking all night dreaming that they accidentally blew my head off,” she said.
She did not want to share her name or face on camera, but wanted to share her story.
“I had just hung up the phone, like literally just had hung up the phone,” she said. “The guy had came from my window and was like give me what you got or something.”
She said she thought it was her fiance messing around and shining something bright. The two had been arguing hours earlier.
“I grabbed what I thought was a phone and when my finger went inside the barrel I realized that was when it was a gun,” she said.
And the person standing at the window was not her fiance. She said the two ended up struggling with the gun.
“I was kind of tussling with him, like please you know don’t kill me you know he snatched it back and he was like b**** move and I raised my hands and he pushed the gun to my head,” she explained.
But then out of nowhere, she said came a second person.
“Another dude came from around and he had a gun to my face and it was not like a gun that you hold you in your hand it was a two-hand gun with lights on the end of them,” she said.
The victim said she gave them her iPhone and purse and saw them running away.
“When I got out the car, the other one with my purse, he turned around and pointed the gun at me, like don’t move so I just didn’t move I just stopped,” she said.
Not taking any more chances, the victim said she waited until she could no longer see them and ran home and called police.
“It was just a crazy situation at a crazy time,” she said. “I guess will never sit out in my car ever again.”
The victim said she’s thankful to be alive and for another day with her kids.
“My kids, I’ve been kissing them harder than I ever kiss them before hugging them and holding them tighter,” she said, “You know because that could have just been my time my moment.”
The victim believes the two suspects were teenagers anywhere between the ages of 16 to 18 years old.
She said she noticed a car earlier waiting at the stop sign and believes that car may have been involved.
