George Seaton was born in South Bend. He won an Oscar for Best Writing, Screenplay for "The Country Girl" in 1954 and "Miracle on 34th Street" in 1947. He was also nominated for Best Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium for "Airport" in 1970 and Best Writing, Screenplay for "The Song of Bernadette" in 1943.
