Tornado touches down in northern Indiana
NEW CARLISLE, Ind. (WISH) — A tornado briefly touched down in St. Joseph County Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service of Northern Indiana.
The tornado, which has been classified as a landspout, was spotted in an open field in New Carlisle. It remained nearly stationary as it picked up dirt from the field.
Since no damage occurred, the National Weather Service rated the landspout as an EF-U tornado, with no maximum speed or width.
