Lafayette auto body shop a total loss after fire
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Lafayette auto body shop was destroyed in a late night fire Tuesday evening.
Firefighters say when they arrived at Alford’s Auto Care on Elston Road, flames could be seen through the roof of the building. This was shortly after 11 p.m.
Lafayette Fire Battalion Chief Mike Hieatt said the fire was so hot that tires and shocks from vehicles inside the garage exploded.
No injuries were reported during the fire.
The 600 block of Elston Road will remain closed until crews can knock out all of the hot spots.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
