Muncie looking for ‘adopters’ as weeds take over median

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) – Muncie officials are looking for someone to take over maintenance of an unsightly median that’s designed to keep pedestrians and bicyclists safe.

The perennial plants on the McGalliard Road island have been overtaken by weeds after the landscape company that had maintained the site for more than a decade stopped doing so due to what one official calls a “miscommunication.”

Cardinal Greenways CEO Angie Pool tells The Star Press that the company that had donated its services to maintain the island stopped doing so. She says the site is now available for another person or group to take over.

Jason Brooks of Jay Crew Landscape says his company tended the median for 10 to 15 years but stopped amid uncertainty over what agency it was working for.
