IPS teachers view strategic plan, initiatives firsthand

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Leaders with IPS took the strategic plan on the road on Wednesday.

The board voted for the plan unanimously last week, and IPS Superintendent Lewis Ferebee talked about the plan and how the community can make sure that it is implemented.

The focus for Wednesday was the ‘new opportunity’ culture model to allow for high performing teachers to take more responsibility for more students, as well as help develop other teachers.

By participating in these programs, teachers can earn an additional $18,000 a year.

“We believe that this is the best strategy that we can have around school improvement. We know that our principals and our school leaders can’t be the sole source of leadership, that we must have our teachers,” said Ferebee.
