Over 10,000 books donated in late principal’s honor

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – While most students were enjoying the day off for President’s Day, some Lawrence Township high schoolers were spending their day volunteering.

They were helping sort books donated in honor of the school’s late principal. Susan Jordan was killed last month in a school bus crash.

Officials say thousands of books have been donated in her honor.

“We’ve had donations from all over the country from book publishers from other schools from individuals that have seen the news story, so we’ve got over 10,000 books that the students are going through today,” Troy Knoderer said. “It’s a great testimony to Lawrence Township and the generosity within Lawrence Township and we are so proud of our students for giving up their vacation day to come and do this for us.”

Students also helped label the books, which officials say will be used in schools across the township.
