New kind of track opens in Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – IndyCar team owner Sarah Fisher is ready to open a new kind of track in Speedway.

On Tuesday, Fisher and her husband Andy O’Gara hosted a VIP Grand Opening of the 60,000 square foot facility that houses Speedway Indoor Karting and 1911 Grill. It’s located at 1067 Main Street in Speedway. IndyCar drivers Joseph Newgarden, Pippa Mann, Bryan Clausen and Anthony Foyt IV all made an appearance.

The karting facility features a 20th mile oval, a 14-turn two-story road course, and a full restaurant with Indianapolis Motor Speedway nods throughout the building.

“We pride ourselves in going to the extreme for what you see here and I think people will get a very good feel of how hard we worked on the details when they see the place,” O’Gara said.

The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating for up to 300 people, there’s also sound-proof views of the track from inside the grill and gaming available for kids.

O’Gara said if you want to hit the track, there will be junior karts, adult karts, two-seater karts, even hand-control karts.

Speedway Indoor Karting is set to open to the public Friday. Rides start at $15.
