Police: Father arrested for death of 2-month-old

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) – Police have arrested a Bloomington father for aggravated battery and neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

According to a release from the Bloomington Police Department, officers were called to the 100 block of South Curry Pike May 29, regarding an unresponsive two month old child.

Police said the mother of the child gave her daughter a bottle around 7:45 a.m. and then left for work.

The child was in her father’s care for the day.

The father reported that he checked on the child at 4:45 p.m. and found her unresponsive. The child was transported to IU Health Bloomington where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives said preliminary autopsy results showed evidence of two skull fractures as a result of blunt force trauma.

The child’s father Robierre Mcneil, 33, was interviewed by detectives on June 1 and denied knowing how the child might have received her injuries. Police said his statements were inconsistent with the evidence they gathered in the investigation.
