Walk & Talk tours on Indiana’s swim history, U.S. Olympic Swim Trials hit downtown

U.S. Olympic Swim Trials walk and talk tours starting Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Swimmers are looking to make history starting Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials

And those looking to learn Indiana’s swimming and Olympic Trial history, an Indianapolis man will be your guide.

The Indiana Sports Corp has teamed up with Sampson Levingston, founder of Through2Eyes, to host walk and talk tours during the U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials.

Part of Levingston walk and talk will include about the swimming history here in the state of Indiana and around Indianapolis.

“We’re going to talk about how we interacted with the water, how we’ve respected the White River, how we’ve disrespected the White River, how we’ve given people used to swimming pools and how people have not had access to swimming pools.” said Levingston

Each tour will include information about Indiana’s swimming history, Olympic Swimming, water safety and access, and more.

“We talk about why we’re having the USA swim trials here and activating Lucas Oil Stadium.” said Levingston

The outdoor tours stretch along Georgia Street, starting at the Eiffel Tower at the intersection of Georgia and Capitol Avenue. Each tour is expected to last around 30 minutes.

Levingston says major sporting events like these always bring the city together.

“Its always neat to see how sporting events like this one, sports connects the city, connects the world, inspires the youth in Indianapolis.” said Levingston

Levingston will host those tours Saturday through Tuesday, then again on June 21-23. Tours are limited to 25 people.
