Man dies after being shot outside Family Dollar on east side

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Cory Miller.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has died after being shot Tuesday night outside a Family Dollar store on the east side, police said.

Police were called to East 21st Street and North Arlington Avenue just after 8 p.m. on a report of a person shot.

The man was sitting in a car outside the store when someone shot an unknown number of times, investigators said.

The victim was initially transported to a hospital from the shooting scene, but later died.

The suspected shooter fled the scene in a black vehicle. Police say witnesses recall seeing two males fleeing the scene in a black colored SUV, northbound on North Arlington Avenue before police arrived.

It was not immediately known who was the intended target, police said.

Police are looking to see if any surveillance video is available from the area.
