Man killed in Lawrence motorcycle crash identified

LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) — A motorcyclist involved in a crash Sunday afternoon in Lawrence has died.

Police were called to the intersection of Pendleton Pike and North Mitthoefer Road around 6:49 p.m. Sunday in response to a crash.

Police say the motorcyclist was traveling north on Mitthoeffer Road and, according to witness statements, had a red light. Police identified the man Monday as 32-year-old Kurt Lowery of Fishers.

Witnesses told police a small SUV was traveling westbound on Pendleton Pike and had a green light. According to those witnesses, Lowery failed to yield for the SUV, resulting in the crash.

The driver and two other occupants of the SUV were uninjured. The driver is being taken to Eskenazi for what Lawrence Police Department PIO Gary Woodruff called a routine blood draw.

Police say Lowery was wearing a helmet.
