Man killed in Danville electrical accident was well known in community

DANVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — Authorities have identified a man electrocuted in Danville on Saturday.

It happened in the 100 block of West Main Street in downtown Danville just before 11:15 a.m.

Officials say a worker was cleaning a church gutter at the Danville Christian Church when his lift vehicle touched a high voltage power line.

Emergency responders were forced to wait until power to the lines was turned off before they could get to him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Sunday as 59-year-old Chris Goins, a well-known figure in the community. Click here to support a GoFundMe page set up for his family.

The Danville Metropolitan Police Department shared a special message about Goins on its Facebook page Sunday.
