Soggy start to the week, heat returns soon
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)– Much needed rain continues before we dry out and warm up by the end of the week.
After a nice and dry weekend, rain has moved into the state, making for a very soggy start to the work week. So far, we have had nearly three-quarters of an inch of rain here in the metro with some spots picking up over an inch.
Temperatures across the state topped out 10-15 degrees below average due to the continuous rain and very cloudy skies. The last time that our high temperature here in the metro failed to top out over 70° was on April 29!
MONDAY NIGHT:
Temperatures will remain very steady as we head into the late afternoon and evening hours. By 10 p.m., we will likely still be in the mid to upper 60s.
Scattered showers and storms are likely during the overnight hours. A rumble of thunder or two is possible, but the severe threat is very low.
Low temperatures will bottom out in the low to mid 60s.
TUESDAY:
As you make your way to work and school, make sure to pack the rain gear as scattered showers and storms will be likely during the morning drive time. Temperatures will be on the mild side and in the upper 60s by 8 a.m.
Scattered showers and storms will be possible during lunchtime.
High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s for most spots.
An isolated shower or two will be possible during the late evening and overnight hours.
WEDNESDAY:
Most of the morning will be cloudy with a chance for an isolated shower or two.
By the afternoon hours, we’ll see a better shot at scattered showers and storms. The commute home will likely be soggy, so make sure to pack the umbrella and plan a few extra minutes for your drive time.
EXTENDED FORECAST:
We’ll keep the chance for scattered showers and storms on Tuesday and Wednesday before drying out by Thursday. Temperatures will once again be on the rise to near 90° by the end of the week and into next weekend. With the humidity factored in, “feels like” temperatures will likely be at or just above 90°.
