Pacers workout big men
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two weeks out from the NBA draft and the Pacers may be showing their hand.
Knowing they’re going to pick up the pace on court, they’ve brought in a handful of mobile big men in their last few workouts.
Among the guys on court Sunday? Texas Longhorn Myles Turner and Big Ten and national player of the ear Frank “The Tank” Kaminksy. The duo went head to head when the cameras were allowed in, and it looked like a good battle between two very talented guys who can score both inside and out.
There is a lot of hoopla surrounding both, but they know what’s at stake and what they need to do to get noticed by the teams.
“I think that’s just media, man,” said Turner. “I think that’s just all hype. They want to see Trey Lyles, he’s Myles Turner, Frank Kaminsky, that’s just all media, man. The coaches just want to see you improve every step of the way. It’s competition. Frank’s a great player but I feel like I’m a good player as well so I just want to show what I’ve got.”
Kaminsky, who played his last collegiate game at Lucas Oil Stadium in the national championship game last April, agrees.
“We’re all just working out here to try to get better. No one wants to get hurt out here, so at the end of the day it is a workout, we’re trying to compete as hard as we can and go at each other but at the same time it is just a workout.”
The NBA draft is set for June 25. Indiana has the 11th overall pick.
