IndyCar’s Rahal looking forward to 2015 racing season

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A handful of IndyCar teams and drivers spent part of the week testing at the new road course in southern Louisiana, and for Graham Rahal, was a chance for a fresh start.

His only podium in 2014 came on a 2nd place finish in Detroit, the rest of the year was littered with mechanical problems that led to disappointing finishes.

Rahal-Letterman-Lanigan Racing made some major changes in the off-season, changing engineers and other team members in the hopes of seeing improvement. The team also lost the National Guard sponsorship and the millions of dollars that came with it.

Rahal says getting back on track was a breath of fresh air, but there’s still a lot of questions to be answered.

“It’s been a long off-season and you know for our entire team to get out there and shake off some rust,” Rahal says. “We were in Sebring (Florida) before we were in New Orleans and did two days there, and of course New Orleans will be important because we go back and race there early in the season. But you know it was fun to be out … but those cars are in the past. We are going to have the arrow kits coming out soon.”

The 2015 season will also be a monumental one off the track for Rahal. He’s scheduled to marry Funny Car driver Courtney Force in the fall.
