U.S. Naval contract work coming to southern Indiana

LYNCHBURG, Va (Inside INdiana Business) — BWX Technologies, based in Lynchburg, Virginia, has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and the company has announced some of the work will be done in Indiana.

BWX subsidiary BWXT Nuclear Operations Group was awarded $1 billion in contracts to make naval nuclear reactor components. The initial contract award was made in 2019 and makes up two-thirds of the total value, with the remaining work expected later this year.

Geveden said. “We appreciate the U.S. Navy’s continued trust in our employees and our capability to perform this important work.”

The work will support Ford-class carrier construction with manufacturing taking place in BWXT locations in Mount Vernon, Indiana, Lynchburg, Virginia, along with Barberton and Euclid, Ohio.
