Warm and wet March; April warm too
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH)- We had a warm and wet March across central Indiana.
The average temperature for the month was 46.2 degrees which is 4 degrees above normal. This makes March 2020 the 11th warmest March on record. The coldest temperature in March was 21 degrees back on March 7th. The warmest was 74 degrees on March 28th.
As far as precipitation, March picked up 4.68 inches, which is a little more than an inch above normal.
What does April look like? The Climate Prediction Center has much of the Great Lakes including central Indiana in the above normal temperature category. Probability is higher in the Gulf coastal states that temperatures will be above normal but it’s still possible we will see above normal temperatures.
As for precipitation, central Indiana is on the northern fringe of above normal precipitation for the month. There’s a higher probability of above normal precipitation in Minnesota and eastern Texas but we may see more April showers here in Indiana.
