Parents, children with autism and social distancing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana’s stay-at-home order is difficult for everyone, particularly for parents with children who have a disability.  

On Wednesday, WISH-TV’s medical reporter, Dr. Mary Gillis, D.Ed., was on Midday to discuss the struggles parents and caregivers might face for a child who is autistic.  

Gillis discussed the difficulties of juggling work, home and now playing teacher. She also talked about the importance of exercise and the potential negative effects the lack of social interaction are having in children with autism.
