Family of brothers helped by Mary Rigg tour neighborhood center named after her

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – On Monday, there was a reunion of sorts at the Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center.

Family members of George and Gabe Voida celebrated the brothers’ arrival in Indianapolis 90 years ago.

The boys were actually born in the U.S. but moved to their parents’ native Romania when their father got sick.

After he died, their mother sent them back to the U.S. alone, when they were just 11 and 13-years-old.

Their mother sent them with a letter to get them to Mary Rigg at the American Settlement House.
